DESCRIPTION

Advantages of graphite electrode
1. CNC high processing speed, high machinability, easy to trim The graphite machine has a fast processing speed of 3 to 5 times that of the copper electrode, and the finishing speed is particularly outstanding, and its strength is very high. For the ultra-high (50-90 mm) and ultra-thin (0.2-0.5 mm) electrodes, it is difficult to deform. Moreover, in many cases, the product needs to have a good grain effect, which requires that the electrode be made as a whole as possible, and there are various hidden angles when the whole electrode is fabricated, due to the easy trimming characteristics of graphite. This makes the problem easy to solve, and greatly reduces the number of electrodes, but the copper electrode can not.
2. Fast EDM forming, low thermal expansion and low loss Since graphite is more conductive than copper, its discharge rate is faster than copper, which is 3 to 5 times that of copper. And it can withstand a large current when discharging, and it is more advantageous when the electric spark roughly machine. At the same time, the graphite weight is 1/5 times that of copper under the same volume, which greatly reduces the load of EDM. It is very advantageous for making large electrodes and overall male electrodes. The sublimation temperature of graphite is 4200 ° C, which is 3 to 4 times that of copper (the sublimation temperature of copper is 1100 ° C). At high temperatures, the deformation is minimal (1/3 to 1/5 of copper under the same electrical conditions) and does not soften. The discharge energy can be transferred to the workpiece efficiently and with low cost. Since graphite is strengthened at a high temperature, the discharge loss can be effectively reduced (the graphite loss is 1/4 of copper), and the processing quality is ensured.
3. Light weight and low cost In the manufacturing cost of a set of molds, the CNC machining time, EDM time, and electrode loss account for the majority of the total cost, which are determined by the electrode material itself. Compared with copper, graphite has a machining speed and EDM speed of 3 to 5 times that of copper. At the same time, the extremely low wear characteristics and the fabrication of the overall male graphite electrode can reduce the number of electrodes and reduce the consumables and machining time of the electrode. All of this can greatly reduce the cost of making the mold.
